Repossessed Cars in Chicago
Daily, many Americans fail to pay their car loans or leases, and as a result, their vehicles become repossessed cars. Have you ever wondered what happens to those repossessed cars after the financial institution hauls them away? Well, they don’t just magically disappear to some car repo heaven. No, no…most Chicago car repos head to repossessed car auctions.
Financial institutions do not want to pay to store car repos for any length of time, so they try to move these vehicles to a Chicago IL repo car auction as soon as possible. Plus, the sooner they get rid of the vehicle, the sooner they get at least a portion of their money back. A repo auto auction can be open to the public or limited to dealers or other private bidders, so before you head out to get your auto repo, make sure you will be able to participate.
To find a repo auction in your area, you can begin by calling the local banks or credit unions to see whether they sell their car repos at an auction house. They will be able to give you the car auction sales information you need to track down a car liquidation. You can also try to check your phone book’s yellow pages to see if any Illinois repossessed car auction sites or general auction houses are listed. If so, give them a call to see whether they deal with repossessed cars. Also, be sure to check your local newspaper and do an online search for repo car sales in your area.
You should be able to get a good deal on a repossessed auto and find a variety of makes, models, and car repo conditions at a Chicagoland repo auction. However, like all auction car sales, be sure to do your homework ahead of time. You will want to know the retail value of the car repos on which you want to bid, so either bring along a few pricing guides or use the repossessed car auction catalog (if available from the auction house) to research specific vehicles before you go.
And as always, try to get the VIN and do a Vehicle History Report on any Chicagoland auto repo on which you want to bid, so that you make sure you do not end up with any surprises. You will also want to inspect the car repo in person, either prior to or just before the day of the repo auction. Be sure to get a copy of the repo car auction site’s terms and conditions and know what you need to bring the day of the car repo sale.
